I live in Sparks, Nevada, which for all you east coasters, is a beautiful sister city of Reno and sits at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains. We are about 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe and about 30 minutes from some of the best snow skiing in the world!

Interests:

I love my spiritual relationship with God and I adore my gorgeous family. We have a family-based business,
with strong Italian lineage,
so it's good we all get along or we'd make each other crazy! (Actually,
we DO argue,
but hopefully not when anybody else can witness it.) I am an avid gardener and can spend weeks perusing flower and plant catalogs. We have two shelties and two kitty cats so our kids sometimes say our house feels like a zoo but none of us would trade that for a perfectly appointed,
completely silent living environment for anything. I love my study of Ayurveda,
meeting with my patients and trying to ease their path in whatever way I can. (Ayurveda is best known nationally as represented by Deepak Chopra,
who is an M.D. as well as an Ayurvedic doctor and he's written a zillion books) and has writte Ayurveda is called "the mother of all the healing arts" because it is the foundation of all medicine practiced today and is the oldest form of medicine in the world. I'll tell you more later.) I love writing and feel very blessed that I actually wound up having a book published ("Dreaming In Real Time,
The Shanti Shanti Story")

Heroes:

Anyone who can figure out how to navigate this very difficult experience so inadequately referred to as "Life." What a huge concept,
experience and presence for such a tiny word! Eckhart Tolle,
Byron Katie,
authors of "A Course in Miracles...those are "just a few of my favorite people."

Teachers:

Byron Katie,
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi for introducing meditation to the West,
Ammachi-the hugging saint,
Yogananda and Mr. Burkett: my fifth grade teacher who was the first person who saw something meritous in me. He planted the seed for the courage to "step out into the void" because he thought I could!

Books:

Kahlil Gibran and Siddhartha: both books tickled the consciousness in me and bade me to awaken. Also,
Richard Hittleman,
who was a pioneer to the West with his little paperback book on yoga. I still have it. It introduced the experience of the transcendent to me for the very first time with his yoga postures followed by a simple meditation technique of staring at a candle. I remember exactly when I received my first "cosmic buzz." I had brought a note from the doctor to excuse me from P.E. because I was having terrible headaches. They told me I had to do something during P.E. time,
so I asked if I could do Yoga. Afer the "what is that" questions,
I showed them some asanas and they asked if I would do a class to show the rest of the students. I said yes,
of course,
and so began my life as a teacher. Back to where my first exposure to the transcendent occurred: I did my yoga everyday,
up on the stage,
in the gymnasium behind these beautiful long red drapes. Seems kind of appropriate,
huh?! Power of Now and The New Earth by Eckhart Tolle are two books that could carry you all the way through your life.

Music:

Almost any kind except rap and heavy metal,
and even those two sometimes if the artist is exceptional.
